Only 1.5 million new voters were added to the register of Kenyans eligible to vote in the just-concluded National Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) exercise. Six students, who were arrested on Monday in connection with a dormitory fire incident at Maranda High School, will remain in custody for 14 days. The students were arraigned before Bondo Resident Magistrate Stella Mathenge on Tuesday. A Nairobi court has blocked the planned takeover of the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (Kemsa) by the military amid mismanagement allegations. In orders issued on Monday, the Employment and Labour Relations Court also barred Kemsa from laying off over 900 workers in what the board described recently as a restructuring process. Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has been dealt a blow in his bid to block the swearing-in of Ann Kananu as the city boss. The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has suspended the listing of defaulters of loans below Ksh5 million on Credit Reference Bureaus (CRBs) for a period of 12 months. Two students are set to be arraigned in court on Monday over a dormitory fire that broke out at Buruburu Girls last week. It is alleged that the two girls planned and burnt one of the dormitory’s cubicles on Sunday, October 31 before escaping and leaving their colleagues behind.
