The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has exposed petrol stations found selling adulterated fuel in various parts of the country in contravention of the law. In a list published on leading local dailies on Wednesday, EPRA also named petrol stations found selling export bound motor fuels in the local market. The 11 petrol stations were flagged during a crackdown conducted between April and June 2021. During the period, the authority said, a total of 5,598 tests were conducted at 1,237 petroleum sites. A suspected member of the Al Shabaab terrorist group was on Monday gunned down by police at Liboi in Garissa County. The gunman was shot dead as the local security teams intercepted a donkey carrying two AK 47 rifles, bomb-making materials at the main border between Kenya and Somalia. Former President Daniel Arap Moi’s grandson Collins Toroitich has been summoned by a Nakuru Court after he disobeyed orders for a paternity test in a case where he has been sued for child support. Kahawa Tungu understands that Toroitich failed to show up at the Lancet laboratories in Nakuru on June 18 to have his samples and those of the two children aged 11 and nine taken for DNA tests. A total of 31 Members of Parliament and three Senators did not make any contribution in their respective Houses in 2020 as part of their legislative role. This is according to the latest Parliamentary Scorecard released on Sunday by Mzalendo Trust, a Parliamentary Monitoring Organization (PMO). Kenya’s Covid-19 cases’ tally has risen to 182,597 after 204 people tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours from a sample size of 2,971. The country’s positivity rate is now at 6.9%. In a statement to newsrooms on Sunday, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said a total of 1,943,037 tests have so far been conducted. The main suspects behind the kidnapping and torture of Kamukunji-based businesswoman Hafsa Mohamed Lukman have been arrested. The 23-year-old, who was abducted on June 15, 2021, from her shop, was rescued a week ago. According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the two main suspects identified as Jackson Njogu, 24 and Hafsa Abdi, 21, were arrested on Sunday morning at Crystal View lodge in Kinangop area where they spent the night. The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has provided alternative roads for motorists stranded along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway due to the ongoing World Rally Championships (WRC) Safari Rally in Naivasha, Nakuru County. On Saturday motorists were left stranded for over six hours following a traffic snarl-up along the busy highway as Kenyans thronged Naivasha to watch the Safari Rally event. The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced traffic disruptions on two roads in Nairobi for up to a month. In a notice issued on Saturday evening, KeNHA Director General Eng. Peter Mundinia said the ramp from Waiyaki Way to Forest Road will be closed from Monday, June 28 to Sunday, August 1, a period of 34 days. The KeNHA boss further announced that the Capital Centre access along Mombasa Road will be closed from Monday, June 28 to Saturday, June 17, a period of 20 days. The Kenya Defence Forces has confirmed fatalities in the Thursday morning crash involving a military chopper at OlTepesi area in Ngong, Kajiado County. The KAF helicopter Mi 171 E that was on a training mission crash-landed and burst into flames at around 9am. In a statement, KDF Spokesperson Zippora Kioko said all the passengers on board were accounted for and have been moved to safety. A warrant of arrest has been issued against Beatrice Gathoni Boro, a suspect in a fraudulent Sh15 million deal involving a local refugee camp. Boro is an accused person in a case of obtaining money by false pretences contrary to section 313 of the Penal Code. Hafsa Mohamed Lukman, the 23-year-old Kamukunji-based businesswoman who was recently rescued following a kidnapping incident, was lured with a business deal, a Nairobi court was told.
