Kenya Railways has announced resumption of Madaraka Express passenger services between Mombasa and Suswa. In a statement released on Sunday, the management said the services will resume tomorrow, May 3 after about a month of a suspension occasioned by the cessation of movement order issued by President Uhuru Kenyatta affecting Nairobi, Machakos, Kajiado Kiambu and Nakuru counties. Neighbouring country Tanzania’s Head of State Samia Suluhu is scheduled to visit Kenya on Tuesday, State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena Mararo has confirmed. In a brief press statement released on Sunday, Kanze Dena said Suluhu will arrive in the country on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, for a two day State Visit. “President Uhuru Kenyatta will receive his Tanzania counterpart at State House, Nairobi on the same day,” the statement reads. Police in Laikipia County have seized two AK-47 rifles and 13 rounds of ammunition after a fierce shootout with bandits in Ng’arua area. One of the bandits, who were on a robbery mission, was fatally shot during the incident on Friday night. National carrier Kenya Airways (KQ) has suspended passenger flights to and from Mumbai, India, until further notice. In a statement released on Friday, the airline said the decision is in line with the Kenyan government’s move to suspend passenger flights to and from India for 14 days effective Saturday, May 1, over a spike in Covid-19 cases. Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has revealed plans to ban police offices from engaging in romantic relationships with colleagues. Kenya’s neighboring country, Uganda, has confirmed a COVID-19 variant from India. Uganda’s Health Ministry said the Indian variant is among five different strains of the coronavirus that have so far been detected in the country. Others are Ugandan, Nigerian, South African, and UK strains. Another man of the four who went missing on April 19 in Kitengela, Kajiado County, has been found dead in Thika, Kiambu County. The body of Benjamin Imbai was positively identified at General Kago Funeral Home in Thika by his family members on Wednesday.
