Anti-terror Police have recovered a cache of arms at Racecourse in Dagoretti Corner, Nairobi, suspected to have been sneaked into the country for terror activities. The weapons were recovered on Wednesday afternoon from two women Joyce Muthoni Mwihia and her mother Goretti Mwihia, both of whom hold dual citizenship and live in Racecourse. A total of 11 examination officials have been arrested in the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams, Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha revealed on Wednesday. The CS said the officers who include centre managers and supervisors are linked to cases of exam malpractice including attempts to expose exam papers. The officials are from Homa Bay, Mandera, Kisii, Garissa and Kisumu counties. The Judiciary has ordered the closure of Runyenjes Law Courts in Embu after eight staffers tested positive for Covid-19. In a statement issued on Wednesday, Acting Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu said the court will remain closed for seven days to allow for fumigation and other Covid-19 protocols aimed at preventing further spread of the virus. Mwilu said the eight of 18 Judiciary personnel at the court have since been sent into self-isolation in accordance with Ministry of Health protocols. A Kiambu court has handed former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu reprieve in a battle to keep luxury vehicles seized over Sh10 million loan. Yesterday, the governor obtained orders restraining Mwananchi Credit Limited from selling his two vehicles to recover the debt. The lender had threatened to auction the vehicles which Waititu had used as collateral to secure the said loan. The vehicles are currently at Startruck Yard along Kiambu Road. Fuel prices in the country are expected to shoot further, for a fourth time in a row, in a review that will be announced later today by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA). Sources within EPRA intimated to a local daily that the price of a litre of petrol is likely to go up by at least Ksh6, pushing the average price to at least Ksh128.87. Police have launched a probe after a female student, who was sitting for the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations was fatally stabbed by her alleged boyfriend in Kitui County under unclear circumstances. According to an eyewitness, the 27-year-old man visited the Form Four student at her home in Kavasya and a quarrel ensued between them on Monday. Rescue efforts for endangered giraffes on an island in Lake Baringo, Baringo County, came to an end on Monday with the transportation of the last two animals to the mainland. The island that has been home to nine Rothschild’s giraffes is being flooded with rising water in the lake. Two suspects arraigned over the murder of National Lands Commission (NLC) official Jennifer Wambua have confirmed to have met the deceased before her death.
