A university student, David Osano, taking a Bachelor in Commerce course has been accused of raping a female student. David allegedly raped the female student after forcefully dragging her into his room and repeatedly raping her. David is the Personal Assistant to SONU Chairman, Babu Owino.
The second year virgin student suffered various injuries in her private parts including having her hymen severed as a result of the act. David is said to be a serial rapist having committed the offence many times in his stint at UoN. Many reports to the university security have not resulted into action but this time the university community believe that the student must pay for his action.
He is currently being held at Central Police station while the victim is being treated at one of the Nairobi Women Hospital’s facilities. She is traumatised and not able to speak. Most university students and SONU leaders have said that they can’t tolerate this forever. Apparently Babu Owino, current SONU chairman, has influenced some police officers to claim that there was no sexual penetration in the alleged act.
Female SONU leaders are determined to see action for their colleague as they say that the frequent rape by the same suspect is just not good for the image of Nairobi University. The students have decided to start a Twitter campaign with hashtag, #Justice4Gladys to rally around the cause and call for speedy prosecution of the suspect.
The case was reported to Central Police Station under OB number 15/01/08/2014
