Detectives are investigating an incident where a boy aged 18 collapsed and died while playing football at a school in Bungoma County.

The victim was a form four student at Chemche Day High School. The victim was playing with other students on Saturday evening when he collapsed and died.

He was pronounced dead at a local hospital, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy. A similar incident happened last week in Migori and it is under probe.

In Ntimaru, Migori County, a 44-year-old man was shot and killed in an attack at a common border.

The area has been experiencing sporadic attacks by gunmen over grazing fields, police said.

The body of John Makubo Gikaro was found in a thicket after he had been shot from the back on January 31, 2026. Police linked the shooting to the ongoing tribal tensions in the area.

The body was moved to the mortuary amid fears of revenge from the affected families.

In Cheptulu, Vihiga County, a gang killed one Derick Oyando in a robbery at Abundance Church School. Police said they arrested two suspects in connection with the murder.

The probe into the murder is ongoing, police said on Sunday.

And a driver and two loaders were killed in an accident along Elburgon-Njoro Road in Molo, Nakuru County.

Police said the accident happened in the Aremis area as a lorry ferrying tree logs to a factory veered off the road and landed in a ditch.

The logs trapped the bodies of the three before they were later removed and moved to the mortuary pending other procedures.

On Saturday, police said 14 people were killed in separate road accidents and included 10 pedestrians, two drivers and two passengers.

The accidents left 21 people with serious injuries and included five riders, five pillion passengers, three drivers, six pedestrians and two passengers. They are nursing wounds in various hospitals, police said.
