A five-year-old boy died after he and three other children were attacked by a swarm of bees while playing at their home in Nyamila Village in Kakamega County.

The incident occurred on Sunday at around 3:30 p.m. when the four children were playing within their compound in Ishikalame Sub-location and they were suddenly attacked by bees.

The children were rescued and rushed to St Irene Hospital Musanda for treatment in serious condition.

However, one of the children, five-year-old Stevan Jeremiah Ongoma, a PP1 pupil at St Irene ECD, died at around 2:30 a.m. on Monday while undergoing treatment.

The other three children were treated and later discharged from the hospital in fair condition.

The body of the deceased child was moved to Butere Sub-County Hospital mortuary awaiting a postmortem examination.

Elsewhere, police launched investigations after a man was found dead inside a pub in Kayole, Nairobi.

The owner of the bar located at Kayole Junction, reported the incident at around 3:36 p.m on Sunday.

He told police that earlier at about 2:30 p.m., he received a call from an employee informing him that a man who had been sleeping inside the pub was unresponsive. When he arrived at the premises, he found the man — known to them only by the name Amos lying lifeless inside the establishment.

Police visited the scene and confirmed the incident.

Initial examination of the body revealed no visible injuries, according to police.

The body was moved to Nairobi Funeral Home for preservation pending a postmortem examination.

And one Salim Mohamed Awadh, 43 was found dead in a hotel in Mombasa Town.

He had checked into the hotel on March 6 in the morning hours and did not leave. His brother who came to visit him said he was not responding to the knocks on the door.

This forced him to leave thinking he was tired and a sleep. On Sunday, the same happened when he visited and there was no response and the hotel management said he had not left the room.

They were forced to break in where they found him lying dead in the bathroom.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
