    CS Education, Fred Matiang’i

Education CS Fred Matiang’i has said that the government will take up the distribution of text books to schools as opposed to giving schools the money to purchase. The CS said that he was concerned that Kenya had not achieved the 1:1 student textbook ratio.

Matiang’i said that in a bid to improve the Education sector they will inspect the international schools to ensure that they comply with the set standards and guidelines for education.

CS Matiang’i also announced that he would introduce other reforms including introduction of a diploma training to replace the P1 training he says this would give more skills to the teachers.

He also said that he would try and encourage the government to exempt the schools from taxes. He implored the county governments not to enact policies that would raise the cost of education in the county.
