The Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Human Capital Development, and Special Programmes, Geoffrey Ruku, strongly condemned the widespread destruction witnessed across the country during the recent Gen Z protests.

Speaking in Mbeere North, Embu County, during a community engagement and public participation forum, Ruku accused opposition leaders and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of orchestrating what he termed as “planned terrorism, havoc, and a trail of destruction” disguised as peaceful demonstrations.

He criticized the political faction for undermining national unity for personal political gain, warning that Kenyans will not tolerate any attempts to destabilize the nation under the guise of activism.

“The people of Kenya will not allow individuals with selfish interests to destroy the peace and stability we have worked hard to build,” Ruku stated.

“You cannot attain leadership by dividing the nation. It is of no benefit to seek power through polarization and the balkanization of the country.”

He challenged the opposition to seek power in a dignified manner by presenting their vision and tangible plans for Kenyans, rather than engaging in empty rhetoric that fuels tension and disharmony.

“Let the opposition tell Kenyans what they will do for them instead of engaging in divisive rhetoric that serves no national interest,” he added. “The politics of deceit and manipulation must come to an end.”

He further cautioned the youth against being misled by what he termed as selfish political actors who are only interested in gaining power through mischievous and backdoor means.

“I have a young son, and I understand what the youth need. That’s why I’m calling upon our young people, to reason together with us as parents in tackling the challenges facing our nation,” he added.

“This cannot be achieved through destruction and disorder incited by self-centered political leaders.”

Ruku lauded the people of Mbeere for their active and constructive participation in development discussions, affirming the government’s commitment to fostering similar engagements across all counties.

He called on Kenyans to reject divisive politics and instead work towards building a cohesive and inclusive society.

Addressing concerns over youth unemployment and economic inclusion, the Cabinet Secretary highlighted the government’s renewed focus on empowering the youth through skills development and employment initiatives.

He announced that his ministry is working in collaboration with other government agencies to enhance and expand the National Internship Programme.

“We are committed to ensuring that the youth of this country are not left behind. The internship program will be strengthened to provide hands-on experience and open up employment pathways for our young people,” he affirmed.

Ruku emphasized the government’s recognition of the youth’s pivotal role in National development and its investment in programs designed to equip them with the skills and experience required to thrive in a dynamic job market.

He concluded by urging communities to support youth-focused initiatives and pledged that his ministry will continue championing public service reforms that prioritize inclusion, innovation, and measurable impact at the grassroots level.
