    COTU Secretary General, Francis Atwoli

Cotu Secretary General Francis Atwoli has taken former presidential candidate Cyrus Jirongo over a 100 million loan that he granted him in August 2016. He had loaned Cyrus Jirongo the loan that was supposed to be payable within 50 days with an interest of 10 million.

Francil Atwoli also indicated that he had given the loan on assurance that the UDP leader was owed money by the Nairobi City council.Jirongo who was recently declared bankrupt asked the court to plead with Francil Atwoli to give him more time or pursue the Nairobi County council.

The court however  denied Cyrus Jirongo’s plea saying that he accepted the sum of money and therefore could not shift liability.

Francis Atwoli also claimed for damages for breach of contract but Justice Tuiyot dismissed this ordering him to wait for the verdict of the case in full.

Cyrus Jirongo was among the presidential candidates and may be on the ballot on October 26.
