Drama ensued in the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Wednesday after a bomb scare disrupted a Kenya Airways flight KQ 762 for OR-Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg.
Sources say, it all started with an argument between one of the passengers on-board and a flight attendant at around 1pm.
In the middle of undisclosed argument, the passenger mentioned the word “bomb”, causing panic in the plane that was ready for take-off.
In a statement, KQ confirmed that the suspect has since been arrested and handed over to the Anti-Terror Police Unit for further interrogation.

Following the incident, all flights were grounded for screening.
“KQ would like to report that the passenger who raised the bomb scare has been taken into police
custody. All the other passengers and crew have disembarked for security re-screening and the aircraft is undergoing extensive security checks, ” the airline said in a statement.
Reports indicate the airport has since been opened and all flights diverted to Mombasa, Kilimanjaro and Dar Salaam.
