Félix Auger-Aliassime, often referred to as FAA, is a Canadian professional tennis player born on August 8, 2000, in Montreal, Quebec.
He was raised in L’Ancienne-Lorette, a suburb of Quebec City.
His father, Sam Aliassime, emigrated from Togo in West Africa and worked as a tennis coach, while his mother, Marie Auger, is a French-Canadian teacher.
Auger-Aliassime began playing tennis at a very young age under his father’s guidance and developed into one of Canada’s leading male players.
He is known for his sportsmanship, dedication to philanthropy connected to his father’s homeland of Togo, and contributions to Canadian team successes.
Siblings
Félix has one sibling, an older sister named Malika Auger-Aliassime.
Born on December 28, 1998, in Montreal, Malika is roughly two years older than her brother.
Like Félix, she grew up immersed in tennis, beginning the sport around age five or six under their father’s coaching at the Académie de Tennis Hérisset-Bordeleau in Quebec City.
She competed as a junior and reached a career-high ranking of No. 554 in February 2016.
Career
Auger-Aliassime started playing tennis at age four with his father, who coached him until he was about 12 or 13 before he moved to more advanced training in Montreal.

He showed early promise, reaching a final in his first tournament at age six.
As a junior he achieved a world ranking of No. 2, won the boys’ doubles title at the 2015 US Open alongside Denis Shapovalov, and captured the boys’ singles title at the 2016 US Open.
He turned professional while still a teenager and became the youngest player to win a match on the ATP Challenger Tour at 14 years and 11 months old.
His professional breakthrough included reaching multiple ATP finals before securing his first singles title in Rotterdam in 2022.
That year proved transformative as he won four titles overall, helped Canada claim both the ATP Cup and its first Davis Cup title, and rose to a career-high ranking of No. 6 at the time.
He has since accumulated nine ATP singles titles and one doubles title, the latter at the 2020 Paris Masters with Hubert Hurkacz.
Notable Grand Slam results include semifinals at the US Open in 2021 and 2025, as well as quarterfinals at the Australian Open, Wimbledon, and French Open.
He competed at the Olympics, earning a bronze medal in mixed doubles with Gabriela Dabrowski at the 2024 Paris Games, and has continued to contend at the highest levels into 2026.
Accolades
Auger-Aliassime was named the Canadian Press Athlete of the Year in 2022 following his title-winning season and Canada’s historic Davis Cup and ATP Cup triumphs.
Tennis Canada has repeatedly honored him as Men’s Player of the Year and Singles Player of the Year.
In 2023 he received the Arthur Ashe Humanitarian of the Year award from the ATP for his philanthropic efforts, particularly the #FAAPointsForChange initiative that supports children in Togo.
He contributed to Canada’s first Davis Cup title in 2022, the 2022 ATP Cup victory, and multiple Laver Cup successes.
His Olympic bronze medal in mixed doubles at Paris 2024 added to his international honors.
