
Flying Squad officers and administration police in Kisumu clashed over illicit brew that was allegedly being transported to the city.
The administration police were trailing a car that that was allegedly transporting the liquor from Uganda. During the chase the car rammed into a guard rail but the driver escaped unhurt.
As the Administration Police tried to secure the car ferrying the illicit brew the officer from the flying squad denied them access to an extent of even drawing guns at the administration police.
“AP tried to secure the vehicle but the Flying Squad guys that were in another car, refused and guns were cocked as both sides held their ground. It was then that AP called for reinforcement that the situation eased,” a witness who saw the whole debacle told Citizen TV
The Kisumu County Commander, John Kamau held a closed door meeting with the AP commander, Joseph Keitany and Flying Squad commanders for over an hour at the central police station.
The vehicle had earlier been stopped by the traffic police but sped off raising alarm that it was contravening some laws.
