14 year old girl behind the Moi Girls fire that killed 9 students on 2 September is being framed for a crime that she did not commit, her parents have said.
Her parents reckon that their child is being blamed as she is an easy target.
According to them, she sounded the alarm when the fire broke out and started waking up the other girls.
Her parents have said that their daughter had left her bed when the fire broke out. She was in the washrooms and on her way back to the cubicle was met by a girl she cannot identify. On returning to her cubicle, her bed was on fire and that is when she woke up the other girls.
They have according to the Star, in their possession a letter from the girl that outlines some of the things that were not in order in the said school. Among them, they said was lesbianism.
Moi Girls administration has a draft of the same letter.
The teenage girl was allegedly being harassed by the older girls into for refusing to become one of them (lesbian).
“She once talked about girls coming to her bed wearing masks and touching her. They would tell her they want to have a relationship with her and she would refuse. Sometimes she would get notes being slipped into her bed written ‘I love you,” the mother told the Star.
According to her father, their daughter is being treated like the prime suspect yet she volunteered the information.

“My child was the first person who said the fire started in her bed. She volunteered the information. How it was turned around that she is alleged to have committed the attack is puzzling. But eventually the truth will come out,” the father said.
They dismissed claims of their child being suicidal and also denied her ever being suspended from school.
“They are talking about three incidents. One attempt is enough for the institution to summon the parents and inform us that our child is suicidal. The school did not inform us. We do not know where that information is coming from.
“Our daughter is the darling of the family. She is the only person who remembers everybody’s birthday. Without her sometimes, we forget there is an occasion in the house. She is also a quiet girl. At home, she talks, but in school she is a bit reserved.”
The parents condoled with the families of the young ones who lost their lives. He also said that he hopes the real arsonist is caught.
The girl and four others are said to have planned the fire over Whatsapp.
