The government has announced 6,000 internship vacancies under the second cohort of the Affordable Housing Programme (AHP), targeting young professionals across various fields.

In a notice issued on Tuesday, October 20, the Public Service Commission (PSC) said the opportunities were being offered by the State Department for Housing and Urban Development under the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development.

The programme seeks to equip young professionals with relevant skills, expose them to real-world work environments and strengthen their capacity to contribute to the implementation of the Affordable Housing Programme and the country’s broader socio-economic development agenda.

The vacancies cover a wide range of disciplines, including Architecture, Architectural Assistant, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Quantity Surveying Assistant, Structural Engineering, Structural Assistant, Health and Safety, Land Surveying and Geospatial Studies, Landscape Architecture, Real Estate, Valuation, Social Development, Urban and Regional Planning, and Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.

Other available positions include Gender and Development Studies, Building Inspector, Civil Engineering Inspector, Gas and Refrigeration Inspector, Plumbing and Drainage Inspector, Property Manager, Electrical Inspector, Communication and Branding, Environmental Practice and Interior Design.

According to the PSC, successful applicants will undertake duties assigned by their supervisors and mutually agreed upon. They will also document the skills acquired in their respective areas of deployment within the Affordable Housing Programme.

The interns will be deployed to project sites across the country and will be expected to participate actively in relevant mentorship activities and undertake additional responsibilities designed for the programme.

The internship will run for 12 months and will not be renewable.

The State Department for Housing and Urban Development will pay the interns a stipend at a rate determined by the government.

“On successful completion of the Internship Programme, the interns will be awarded a certificate by the State Department for Housing and Urban Development,” the PSC said.

Interested applicants have until November 9, 2026, to submit their applications.

Applicants seeking further information on the vacancies and application requirements have been advised to visit the Public Service Commission’s official website.
