The government has responded after reports surfaced claiming that some Kenyans living in Tanzania were worried about their safety following alleged crackdowns on foreign nationals in the country.

In a statement on Thursday, the Kenyan High Commission in Dar es Salaam assured Kenyans that there is no cause for alarm and that its offices have resumed normal operations after curfew and movement restrictions in Tanzania were lifted following the recent general elections.

The High Commission emphasized that the safety and welfare of Kenyans in Tanzania remains a priority. It said it is in regular communication with Tanzanian authorities to ensure that Kenyan citizens are protected.

“The Kenya High Commission in Dar es Salaam wishes to reassure the Kenyan community in Tanzania that the Mission has resumed normal operations following the lifting of the curfew and restrictions put in place after the General Elections in Tanzania,” the statement said.

The Mission also noted that no incidents targeting Kenyan nationals have been reported.

Kenyans living in Tanzania have been encouraged to continue with their usual activities, while staying alert and following the laws of the host country. Anyone facing security issues has been urged to reach out to the Mission for assistance.

“The Mission encourages all Kenyans to remain calm and vigilant, observe local laws, and promptly report any security concerns or distress cases to the High Commission,” the statement added.
