Harleen Kaur Deol is an Indian international cricketer born on 21 June 1998 in Chandigarh.
A right-handed batter who occasionally bowls right-arm leg spin, she represents the India women’s national team in white-ball formats and plays domestic cricket for Himachal Pradesh.
She has also featured in the Women’s Premier League for Gujarat Giants and later UP Warriorz.
Deol completed her schooling at Yadavindra Public School in Mohali and graduated from MCM DAV College for Women in Chandigarh.
Siblings
Harleen Deol has one sibling, her brother Dr. Manjot Singh Deol. He is a doctor by profession.
The siblings grew up playing gully cricket together in their neighbourhood, with Harleen often joining her brother and his friends from a young age.
Manjot has remained a source of support and pride; family accounts note that he still plays cricket with her in the backyard when she is home, though he now admits she has surpassed him.
During celebrations after India’s 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup victory, he was present at her homecoming and visibly emotional.
Career
Deol began playing cricket around the age of seven or eight, initially in street games with her brother.
She progressed through age-group cricket and represented Punjab before shifting to Himachal Pradesh, partly due to her father’s job transfer and better facilities at the women’s academy there.

She made her Women’s One Day International debut for India against England on 22 February 2019 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, becoming only the second woman from Chandigarh to play for India after Taniya Bhatia.
Her T20I debut followed shortly after, also against England on 4 March 2019.
She has played for Trailblazers and Supernovas in the Women’s T20 Challenge and was acquired by Gujarat Giants in the inaugural Women’s Premier League in 2023 for her base price.
In December 2024 she scored her maiden international and ODI century, making 115 off 103 balls against West Indies.
One of her most celebrated moments came in July 2021 when she took a spectacular acrobatic boundary catch against England’s Amy Jones, leaping to catch the ball and then lobbing it back into play to complete the dismissal while avoiding going over the rope.
The effort earned praise from Sachin Tendulkar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Deol was part of the Indian squad for the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup and the 2022 Commonwealth Games, and she contributed to India’s historic victory in the 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup.
Accolades
Deol was a member of the Indian team that won the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.
She also featured in the side that finished as runners-up at the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Australia and competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
Her maiden ODI century in 2024 marked a significant personal milestone, while her 2021 boundary catch remains one of the most widely recognised fielding efforts in women’s cricket.
In the Women’s Premier League she has produced notable performances, including high scores that helped her teams in key matches.
