Knowing how to change your Gmail name is useful if you want to update the name people see when you send emails. Your Gmail display name can be different from your actual Gmail address, so changing it does not require creating a new email account. You can update the name through Gmail settings using a computer or web browser.

Open Gmail and Sign In
Start by opening Gmail on your computer and signing in to the account you want to update.
Once Gmail opens, make sure you are using the correct account.
- Open Gmail
- Sign in to your account
- Confirm the correct account is selected

Open Gmail Settings
Click the Settings gear icon in the top-right corner of Gmail.
Select See all settings to open the full Gmail settings menu.

- Open the Accounts and Import section

Find the Send Mail As Section
In the settings menu, open the Accounts and Import or Accounts tab.
Look for the Send mail as section, where your Gmail address and current display name are listed.

- Select the edit option

Enter Your New Name
Click Edit info next to your Gmail address.
A window will appear where you can enter the name you want recipients to see when you send emails.
Enter your preferred name and confirm the change.

- Confirm the updated name

Save and Test the Changes
After saving the new name, send a test email to another email address.
Check the message to confirm that your new Gmail name appears correctly.
Remember that changing your Gmail name does not change your actual Gmail email address.
