Cataflam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) containing diclofenac potassium, used to relieve pain, inflammation, and swelling. It is commonly prescribed for conditions such as arthritis, menstrual pain, muscle pain, and dental pain. To ensure safety and effectiveness, it is important to take Cataflam correctly. Here is how to take Cataflam.

    1. Follow Your Doctor’s Instructions
    • Always take Cataflam exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
    • Do not increase or decrease the dose without medical advice.
    • If using over-the-counter Cataflam, follow the recommended dosage on the package.
    1. Recommended Dosage

The dosage of Cataflam depends on the condition being treated:

    • Mild to moderate pain: 50 mg every 8 hours as needed.
    • Menstrual cramps: 50 mg three times daily at the start of pain.
    • Arthritis: 100-150 mg divided into 2-3 doses per day.

Do not take more than 150 mg per day, as excessive use may increase the risk of side effects.

    1. How to Take Cataflam
    • Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water.
    • Take it before or after meals, but preferably with food or milk to reduce stomach irritation.
    • Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet unless directed by your doctor.
    1. What to Avoid While Taking Cataflam
    • Alcohol: Avoid drinking alcohol, as it may increase the risk of stomach ulcers and bleeding.
    • Other NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen, aspirin): Taking multiple NSAIDs increases the risk of stomach problems and kidney issues.
    • Certain medications: Inform your doctor if you take blood thinners, diuretics, or high blood pressure medications.
    1. Possible Side Effects

Some common side effects of Cataflam include:

    • Stomach pain, nausea, or indigestion
    • Headache or dizziness
    • Swelling in the hands or feet

Seek medical attention if you experience:

    • Severe stomach pain or black stools (signs of bleeding ulcers)
    • Shortness of breath or chest pain
    • Allergic reactions like rash or swelling
    1. What to Do If You Miss a Dose
    • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember.
    • If it’s almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular schedule.
    • Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.
    1. Storage and Handling
    • Store Cataflam at room temperature (below 30°C).
    • Keep it away from moisture, heat, and direct sunlight.
    • Keep out of reach of children and pets.
