Kenya Airways on Thursday morning, April 17, 2025, diverted several flights scheduled to land at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to Mombasa and Kilimanjaro due to poor visibility caused by heavy fog.
In a customer update issued by the airline, Kenya Airways said the decision was made purely as a safety measure.
“The diversions were a safety measure to ensure the well-being of our crew and customers, which is our number one priority,” the statement read.
The airline also noted that the situation may cause delays in the departure and arrival of some flights throughout the day.
“We expect some delays today for certain flight departures and arrivals. We apologize for the inconvenience caused to our affected guests,” the airline added.
