Kenyans on twitter have angrily reacted to the switch off of media houses; NTV, Citizen Tv and Radio, saying that it is indeed going back to the old days.
The Kenyans have said that this move by the communication authority is draconian and obnoxious. The citizens say that shutting down media will be detrimental as it gives room for spread of propaganda on other streams such as social media.

The Managing director at the Royal media group Wachira Waruru has said that they have not received due cause as to why action was taken for them to be switched off but are in consultation with the relevant authority and that the issue will be sorted as soon as possible.
KTN has also been shut down from the free to air channels and is currently only airing on DSTV.
