Retired President Mwai Kibaki’s former bodyguard also involved in the tragic road accident on December 3, 2002 claims there are people out to get rid of him.

David Maina Mbugua, an ex-General Service Unit officer has said that men driving a huge Toyota V8 have been trailing and suspects that they want to kill him.

Mr Mbugua says that the men tried to abduct him at his home in Othaya on the evening of Mashujaa Day.

“When I moved closer, the driver reversed as two guys alighted quickly; seeing that they were coming towards my direction I escaped into nearby coffee bushes,” the former officer told the Nairobian.

He luckily got away and lost the alleged kidnappers. He then reported that matter at Witima Police Station under OB no 7/21/2018.

The OCS and accompanied by other officers visited the area but “the vehicle was nowhere to be seen.”

The ex officers notes that there are individuals trying to stop him from contacting Kenya’s third president. But he further maintains that the former head of state paid for his medical expenses for over two years.

It is after his bosses learnt of relationship with Kibaki that he was unceremoniously dismissed from the service. He does however blame the former Nairobi Provincial commissioner King’ori Mwangi of his woes.

“I’m no longer working because my health cannot allow me anymore, I’m whiling time at home optimistic that justice will be served one day so that my young family can enjoy the fruits of my diligent service to the nation,” he said adding that his deteriorating health forced him to quit his watchman job along Mombasa Road.
