Kilifi Governor, Amason Kingi has accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of trying to bribe him and his Mombasa counterpart, Hassan Joho.
Kingi says that Uhuru tried to lure the two into joining Jubilee back in 2013. He continued to say that a group of coastal leaders were asked to go to Deputy President’s Karen home where they were asked to join the ruling party.
Among those who heeded the summon were Aisha Jumwa, Gideon Mung’aro, Mishi Boko, Khatib Mwashetani, Mustafa Idd, and Suleiman Dori. The six decamped to the Jubilee party.

The governor claimed that the legislators were bribed into ditching the ODM party but he and Joho told off the Jubilee party officials to their faces.
Kingi has been caught in a public spat with the President where he accused the President of spreading propaganda. Uhuru however said he would make sure Amason and Hassan Joho were arrested should he get re-elected in August.
The President said the duo had not made good their promises to the people.
