Kenya School of Law (KSL) students are fighting for justice for one of their own who was on November 27 involved in a hit and run along Lang’ata Road.
The victim, Oimbo Omondi, brother to Paul Oimbo was according to his friends hit by Amolo Neville Walusala while driving a Mercedes Benz Reg No. KAG 128V. He and a couple of his friends were headed to 1824 club after sitting for their examinations.
It is said that Mr Walusala drove off and while his colleagues were frantically looking for an ambulance to take Omondi to the hospital. It is after Mr Wasuala had left that two police officers arrived at the scene of accident.
The officers; one female and the other a male only identified as Owino alighted from a police car Reg No. GK 142R from the Langa’ata Police Station.
The two called for a Red Cross ambulance which took Mr Omondi to the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).
Sources privy to the details indicate that the victim is in a coma but is making body movements. Omondi is said to have suffered internal bleeding, swollen brain and has fluids in his lungs.
While he should be in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Kahawa Tungu understands that his family has been asked to wait as all ICU beds are occupied.
His close friends and family are now crying foul after Mr Walusala’s car was found and impounded at Lang’ata Police Station but no action taken against him.
Sources have also intimated to Kahawa Tungu that the police from the same police station visited the scene of accident a day after the accident had taken place.
“After family and friends spent the whole afternoon at the cop station the police decided to go do a scene visit at 6 pm on 28th for an accident that occurred at around 11.30 pm on 27th, surely. What does this mean if the police were not compromised? We really need help and justice to deal with this matter,” a source told Kahawa Tungu.
It is understood that Mr Omondi is yet to be operated on. The doctors have declined to cut him open as they wait for his condition to stabilize.
