KTDA elects Enos Njeru as Chairman, Menjo as Vice Chairman in board changes

The Kenya Tea Development Agency Holdings Limited (KTDA Holdings) Board elected Enos Njeru as its new Chairman and Eng. Samson Mosonik Menjo as Vice Chairman.

The two take over from Chege Kirundi and Omweno James Ombasa, who served as Chair and Vice Chairman respectively.

The changes were inevitable at a time when the agency is under pressure over poor pay for tea farmers.

In a statement, the Board congratulated the newly elected leaders and expressed appreciation to the outgoing officials for what it described as their dedicated service to the agency.

KTDA Holdings said the leadership transition underscores its continued commitment to upholding the highest standards of corporate governance, safeguarding farmers’ value, and strengthening the competitiveness of Kenya’s tea in both regional and international markets.

The agency, which manages tea processing factories on behalf of smallholder farmers across the country, plays a central role in Kenya’s tea value chain — one of the country’s leading foreign exchange earners. The new leadership takes office at a time when the tea sector faces increasing competition in global markets, shifting trade dynamics and the need for enhanced value addition.

KTDA said it remains committed to strengthening corporate governance, safeguarding farmers’ returns and positioning Kenya’s tea competitively in both regional and international markets.

Industry stakeholders will be keenly watching how the new Board leadership navigates reforms, market expansion strategies and operational efficiencies to boost farmer earnings and sustain Kenya’s dominance in the global tea trade.
