lecturersLecturers have called off their strike that has been on for the past one month. Universities Academic Staff Union (UASU) has asked its members to resume duties on Monday.

The dons have will after striking a deal with the government have their 2013-2017 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA ) implemented in January 2018 and end in January 2019.

UASU held a meeting by Inter-Public Universities Council Consultative Forum (IPUCCF) on Wednesday with the agenda to prepare and sign a return-to-work formula.

In November, the government released Sh5.2 billion but the dons, through UASU secretary general, Constantine Wasonga insisted that they would go back to work once the money was in their bank accounts.

”If public universities have indeed received the requisite finances, let them state so publicly as they have done in the past,” Mr Wasonga said.

They also demanded for a calendar for payment of pension arrears from previous CBAs.

The strike paralysed learning in public universities. Kenyatta University for example was closed indefinitely.
