Prof George Magoha, Chairman of the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board has apologized to CitizenGO, a human rights group that complained about abortion on demand services offered by Marie Stopes.

Magoha was put to task by the body’s Campaigns Manager Ann Kioko who demanded that he resigns after KMPDB lifted the post-abortion services ban on December 20, 2018.

Ms Kioko accused the now Education CS of not “informing or involving them yet they were the complainants in the matter of Ann Kioko vs Marie Stopes.”

CitizenGO had since launched a petition which saw them collect 16,000 signatures in 10 days.

During the meeting held on Friday, the KMPDB chair apologized for not involving the human rights body in the decision making.

He is said to have lifted his Catholic Rosary and claimed to have never performed abortion.

Also present during the meeting was the Marie Stopes group who were asked to avail a commitment letter showing that they would never offer abortions on demand in their clinics or advocate for the same.

Last year Marie Stopes was accused of offering abortion on demand services and performing abortions on underage girls for as low as Sh5,000.
