    Man dies after falling from fourth floor of house in Nyali

    A 45-year-old man died after falling from the fourth floor of a house in Nyali area, Mombasa.

    Police identified the victim as Koriata Laytata, an employee of Kenya Revenue Authority. The incident happened at Gishanga estate along Beach Road on Saturday October 25, 2025 at night.

    Laytata is said to have been to and from a local restaurant. On arriving at his residence, he realized he had forgotten his house key at the joint.

    Police said he called a manager at the restaurant and asked him to send a rider with the key. He then sat on the balcony when he is believed to have slipped off and fatally fallen to the ground.

    The rider arrived and found the man lying in a pool of blood on the ground floor, police said.

    Police believe he fell to his death, accidentally. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other investigations.

    Meanwhile, officials are investigating an incident where a speeding train hit and killed a man on the Syokimau-Mlolongo meter gauge railway in Nairobi.

    The dismembered body of the man was discovered on the railway line long after the incident had happened on Saturday, police said.

    The man is believed to have been crossing the railway as the train approached.

    The body was moved to the mortuary pending identification and autopsy, police said.

    Such incidents have been common the railway line amid calls for caution on those crossing the places for their safety.

    And police in Kipini, Tana River are investigating an incident where the body of one Anderson Ngumbau was found floating at the Indian Ocean after drowning.

    He had drowned on Saturday October 25, 2025 before the body was found the following day.

    The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

    In Gongoni, Magarini, Kilifi County, a police officer was stabbed and seriously wounded by a person known to him in an altercation.

    The police officer was admitted to a hospital in Malindi following the stabbing. The attacker escaped the scene and efforts to trace him are ongoing, police said.
