    Man fatally clobbered in fight over electricity tokens in Kayole

    A man was clobbered to death in an altercation over payment of Kenya Power and Lighting tokens in Nairobi’s Kayole area.

    The two are neighbours at an apartment and shared a power token.

    Police and neighbours said the incident happened on April 12.

    The deceased was aged 17 and had gone to inquire from his neighbour why he had not paid for the tokens as agreed.

    This broke out to a confrontation where the assailant used a wooden club to hit the boy in the head fatally.

    He was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to the injuries as the assailant escaped the scene.

    Police visited the murder scene and recovered the weapon used in the fatal attack while the body was moved to the mortuary pending other procedures.

    Police said on Tuesday the hunt on the assailant was ongoing.

    Meanwhile, police in Kabati, Muranga County, one Francis Wanyoike Njane, 38 was found dead on the roadside after a sudden fall.

    Police officers visited the scene and found the body lying by the roadside with no visible physical injuries. The body was moved to General Kago Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem examination to establish the cause of death.

    And police are hunting for a bodaboda rider and two other men who attacked and seriously injured a pillion passenger in a robbery along Riverside Road in Nairobi.

    The victim told police he had taken a ride home when the rider stopped at the site. Two men who were armed with a panga emerged from a bush in the area and slashed him in the head before grabbing his bag and other valuables. Police said the men rode off on a motorcycle leaving the victim at the scene with serious injuries

    A team of detectives were pursuing the attackers on Tuesday following the Monday night incident.

    Such incidents have been on the rise amid efforts to address the menace in the city.

    Police said they had increased efforts to get the gangs riding on motorcycles and robbing city residents.
