A 60-year-old man was allegedly killed by his brother while working on his farm in Gekano Sub-location, Nyamira County.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 26, when Charles Osoro was reportedly attacked while ploughing his land.

Police said Osoro’s brother, allegedly struck him several times on the back of the head using a hoe, causing severe bleeding.

Osoro was found lying lifeless at the scene.

The suspected murder weapon was recovered hidden in a banana plantation about 50 metres from where Osoro was attacked.

The body was taken to Tombe Medicare Mortuary in a police vehicle, while Seke was arrested and taken to Sengera Police Station pending further investigations and possible prosecution.

Elsewhere, police in Manga, Nyamira County, launched investigations into the death of a 69-year-old woman whose body was found along a pathway about 200 metres from her home.

The deceased, identified as Modesta Kemunto Isaboke, was discovered dead in Ogango Sub-location, Central Kitutu Location, on Monday morning.

Police said the incident was reported at about 2.20pm by Isaac Onderi Siringi, a resident of Kirwanda Village, who informed authorities that the body of his aunt had been found lying along a pathway.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Kemunto had gone to a nearby shopping centre at about 5pm on Sunday, where she bought items for supper before returning home.

Her lifeless body was discovered at around 11.30am on Monday, about 200 metres from her house.

Police reported that the body had visible injuries on the thighs and legs, raising suspicion that she may have been attacked before her death.

Detectives processed the scene and documented the evidence before the body was removed to Nyamira Referral Hospital mortuary.

A postmortem examination is expected to establish the exact cause of death and provide further clues to the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police have launched investigations to establish who was responsible for the woman’s death and the motive behind the suspected attack.

    The case remains under investigation.
