A woman who went missing on Tuesday last week while on her way to the hospital has been found dead at the City Mortuary.

Mildred Odira worked at a company based at the Nation Centre, Foresight Company as a switchboard operator.

Speaking to the Nation, the deceased’s sister Maureen Anyango, confirmed that the search for the mother of one was over.

“Millie is no more, we have found her at the City Mortuary,” she said.

Speaking to Citizen, her brother said her body had deep cuts on the forehead, neck and navel — injuries that seemed to have been inflicted with a sharp object.

Her legs were also crushed almost like she was ran over by a vehicle.

“We are asking ourselves, what did Millie do… What debt did she have that the family could not have paid to necessitate such a brutal, inhumane murder,”  her brother is quoted by Citizen.

So far police have questioned a taxi driver who according to guards at the deceased’s residence took her to the hospital.

The guards say that they called the unidentified taxi driver at 4 am on Tuesday when Ms Odira’s condition worsened.

He was supposed to drop her off at the Ruaraka Uhai Neema Hospital.

The driver told the family that the drive took them approximately 20 minutes but according to the hospital records, the driver was in the hospital until 5.57 am.

According to Nairobi News, the facility’s administrators said they were still going through the CCTV surveillance footage to determine what the driver was doing for over an hour.

The hospital also told the bereaved family that no one by the name of Mildred Odira had been registered in the hospital.

Ms Odira was recently diagnosed with diabetes, hypertension and ulcers.
