National Super Alliance (NASA) principals will today, 17th May hold a rally in Kisii county as they intensify their vote hunt ahead of the August 8 elections.

Expected to attend the rally are Mr Odinga, his running mate and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi (Amani National Congress), Moses Wetang’ula (Ford-Kenya) and Isaac Ruto (Chama Cha Mashinani).

This is the second rally to be held by the Opposition following the unveiling of its flagbearer, Raila Odinga, the first one being in Nakuru last Sunday.

Kisii county ODM chairman Kerosi Ondieki on Monday said preparations were ongoing.

Speaking at Gusii Stadium, Kerosi said, “the entire NASA-Pentagon has confirmed that they will grace the mega rally which will be a game changer in Gusii politics. We are ready to host them and we invite our neighbors to come and attend the rally. Preparations have begun.”

Nasa’s regional coordinating committee chairperson Esnas Nyaramba also said everything is set and residents are eager to welcome the Opposition leaders to the region.

She said the Jubilee Party would not change the residents’ minds. The Gusii community overwhelmingly voted for Odinga in the 2013 General Election.

Speaking separately, Bobasi parliamentary aspirant Lucas Mogoa said the opposition would garner  more seats in Kisii than any other party.

“Kisii is not a swing vote as some people think. We are firmly behind NASA,” said Mogoa.

President Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto have made several trips to Kisii and Nyamira counties where they have launched several projects in a bid to woo the Kisiis.
