How NITA Director General Paul Kosgei Has Veered The Organisation Off The Track

The National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) is turning out to be a shell, untrusted and incompetent under the leadership of the current Director General, Mr Paul Kosgei, the employees have said.

This is as a result of massive firing exercised by Kosgei, according to employees who have launched a complaint against him.

According to a letter written to the Head of Public Service Dr Joseph Kinyua, Mr Kosgei has been firing employees in what they term as ‘malice-driven dismissals’.

“His predecessors did a perfect job within the confines of the law to the extent of elevating the Directorate to its present status. The current level of troubles on employees was unheard of until Mr Kosgei took up the mantle of NITA’s leadership. Under Mr Kosgei’s first term, the organization has lost fourteen (14) employees through malice-driven dismissals,” employees say in the letter.

The disgruntled employees state that Mr Kosgei continues to sacrifice employees’ careers to keep his job and please certain members of the Board even when circumstances don’t allow.

“We accuse Ernest Nadome, a Board member for making unsolicited invitations to junior employees (relatives & social associates) at night clubs and social joints in town to procure ‘information’ about the organization,” add the employees.

It is in these meetings that self-seekers take advantage to peddle lies, innuendos and unsubstantiated claims against innocent employees. The employees add that it is on such information that he fires employees.

One Gabriel Obasie was dismissed at Mr Kosgei’s personal wish. Mr Olayo’s own relative, Alfred Jamal allegedly stole Ksh12 million from the authority while working under Mr Obasie.

This matter is in court and while Mr Obasie is a witness of the Authority. However, Mr Kosgei has allegedly sanctioned a smear campaign against Mr Obasie in the dailies – a tactic lacking profound foundation.

Employees are outraged by an existing culture of discrimination by the NITA Board and Management.

“The law is applied selectively, twisted and manipulated depending on ‘who is who’. It is out of this and many other concerns that we call for a transparent and unbiased investigation into the extreme cruelty that occasioned the summary dismissal of employees out of an elaborate scheme planned and sanctioned by Ernest Nadome (Extortionist) and his peers at the NITA Board,” state the employees.
