13 suspects implicated in the National Youth Services (NYS) Sh.9 billion scandal are expected in court on Monday.

The thirteen surrendered to the police before the court’s Thursday 2 p.m deadline.

Of the thirteen, 12 presented themselves to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations on Thursday. The remaining suspect gave himself up on 1, June.

They were locked up at Muthaiga and Gigiri police stations over the weekend.

Also in remand are NYS Director General Richard Ndubai, PS Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs Lilian Omollo who on Tuesday pleaded not guilty to charges of graft, among others.

The government officials alongside 22 directors of companies said to have participated in the mega scandal were denied bail but will know their fate on Tuesday.

President Uhuru Kenyatta during the Madaraka Day celebrations vowed to fight corruption and assured the people that more state officials involved in graft cases will be arrested in the coming days.

The head of state is keen to realize his ‘Big Four’ agenda as he completes his second and final term in office.
