Peter Kenneth, Nairobi county gubernatorial candidate has promised to undo city hawkers’ frustration by making sure that they are not over taxed.

Kenneth said that it is unfortunate that the current county government has been overcharging the traders whose businesses could be of great help to the county.

“You cannot encourage a business environment in the city yet keep hiking the revenues on small businesses,” he said during an interview on Classic 105. “The county has to differentiate between business and revenue.”

The former Gatanga Mp vowed to solve the current administration’s failure to create employment.

Among those most affected are taxi operators, small shop owners and salons.

In 2014, the county raised fees for saloon cars parked in the CBD to Sh300 and Sh200 for those parked outside the CBD.

Kenneth said he will ensure the rates are reduced.

“It is time to empower people to create employment instead of frustrating them,” he said, and told off the Senator for failing to carry out his oversight role.

“Sonko’s role was to keep the Governor in check and he has failed terribly. I wonder why he is lying to us that he can make a good governor.”

Kenneth will be facing the incumbent Evans Kidero, Jubilee’s Mike Sonko, Miguna Miguna in the August Elections that are twenty days aways.
