For over two years now Nyayo Stadium has been closed for never ending renovation works.
The Kenya’s second largest stadium was to stage the 2018 CHAN and the works were meant to bring it up to international status but the continental tournament was moved to Morocco for lack of preparedness.
Two years later and nobody can tell for certain when the original 30k seater arena will be ready for use.
The public had a glimpse of its progress last year when it hosted the Jamhuri Day but it was soon shut again to allow the works to continue.

The stadium will again be opened this weekend for the First Lady’s “Beyond Zero” half marathon.
