    Police fatally shoot suspect in failed burglary incident at a hotel in Kisumu

    A suspected burglar was shot and killed in a failed attempt at a resort in Kombewa area, Kisumu County.

    Police said the incident happened Monday August 18 dawn when a group of five people tried to breach White House Resort.

    Police established it was the fifth such an attempt on the resort. The police responded to the area and cordoned the rear side of the resort when they spotted five men escaping and opened fire killing a 50-year-old man.

    The other suspect managed to escape into darkness, police said. The scene was combed but no further incident was noted.

    The resort management said they were facing unprecedented attempts from burglars and urged for sustained patrols in the area to address the menace.

    The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.

    Meanwhile, police in Gatanga, Murang’a County are searching for a lorry that was robbed from a driver who was found tied onto a tree in a thicket.

    The driver said he had been called by a man unknown to him who asked him to go with his Isuzu FVX lorry and help him ferry sand to Kangema farm.

    The caller asked the driver to find him and his loaders on the way to Deleview area.

    It was then five men emerged on Sunday in Mutingiri area and took control of the lorry.

    The men tied the driver with ropes on a tree and drove off with the lorry in the 11 am incident. The driver was found by pedestrians who untied him and reported the matter. Police said they are pursuing the matter.

    Police suspect the said thieves had a ready market for the lorry and hope to make a recovery and arrests.

    Such incidents are common where drivers are robbed by unsuspecting customers.

    Some of the incidents are lying unsolved after the lorries were robbed off and changed or sold to unsuspecting buyers.
