    Long Queues At City Hall As Safaricom Disconnects Internet Over Sh3.2 Million Debt

    safaricom, city hallThere were long queues at City Hall for approximately two hours on Wednesday morning after Safaricom disconnected internet services.

    According to ICT CEC, Charles Kerich, city hall owes the telecom Sh3.2 million which after talks will be paid in full by 31 January.

    The internet was restored at 11am after stalling services that have been automated.

    Some of the automated services are; single business permits, rates, parking, education, inoculation and garbage collection fees.

    ”Yes, our internet was disconnected but it has been restored. We talked to Safaricom to give us until January 31 to clear the bill,” Kerich told the Star.

    But JamboPay argued that the minor disruption could not paralyse revenue collection could still be made using mobile phones.

    Nairobi residents are however required to visit city hall for the hard copy receipt.

    ”All services are available online online at epaymenyts.nairobi.go.ke,” CEO Danson Muchemi said.
