Citizen TV Swahili News anchor Salim Swaleh has allegedly been forced to resign after he secretly recorded Interior PS, Karanja Kibicho and later handed the recording to Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko.

According to a source who sought anonymity, the TV host lured the PS to one of his radio shows and recorded a conversation between himself and the PS.

The intention of the radio host was to give the recording to Sonko who has not been in good terms with the interior PS ever since his election as governor.

In the recording the PS Kibicho could be heard uttering negative comments about the governor.

The PS upon realizing that he had been recorded complained to the Royal Media Service Managing Director, Wachira Waruru who asked Swaleh to resign and avoid being sacked.

    Here is the alleged recording:

Why is PS Karanja Kibicho so focused on fighting Sonko? Why all these fights bwana PS? Ndugu @mwendanjoka the PS need not be focused on doing bad things to those he doesn't like. Tell KK to go slow. pic.twitter.com/8pUyx6a8bH

The two have been at odds, with Sonko accusing Kibicho of trying to sabotage his government.

The embattled county boss also blamed the PS of being behind the scaling down of his bodyguards from 26 all the way to 5, claims the interior minister, Fred Matiang’i denied.

Instead he said, “Let us learn to use common sense as well. We can’t move a police station to your office.”
