Police in Juja Sub-County, Kiambu County, arrested six suspects linked to an alleged fraud scheme targeting foreign nationals, while also rescuing four victims.
The operation, conducted on April 28, 2026 involved police officers acting on information from the Ghanaian Embassy.
Authorities said the victims—four Ghanaian nationals—had been lured to Kenya with promises of lucrative opportunities abroad, only to be defrauded of substantial sums of money.
Each of the three victims was defrauded 50,000 Ghanaian Cedis while the fourth one said he lost 74,000 Cedis.
Police arrested six suspects in connection with the scheme. They include three Kenyan nationals and three Ghanaian nationals, police said.
The suspects were apprehended at a rented apartment on the first floor of a building in the Kaska-Inn area near the Kenyatta Road footbridge.
Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) personnel processed and documented the scene before the suspects were escorted to Juja Police Station for further interrogation and processing.
Police said investigations are ongoing, with authorities working to establish the full extent of the suspected fraud network.
The Ghanaian embassy in Nairobi said they were aware of the saga and are cooperating with authorities.
Cases where foreigners are lured and defrauded have been on the rise amid efforts to address the menace.
Meanwhile, two suspects identified as Evans Otieno Ongere and Abel Onyango Owuor, arrested in possession of a Phantom pistol along the Kisumu-Busia Highway, were presented before the Principal Magistrate’s Court in Vihiga, where detectives secured a 14-day custodial order.
The recovered firearm is now at the National Forensic Lab for ballistic analysis, police said adding this was part of their investigations to establish if the weapon had been used elsewhere.
Another suspect, Christopher Okello, rescued from mob injustice after he was found in possession of a bow and an arrow, was also arraigned and pleaded not guilty.
He was admitted to a Bond of Sh100, 000. The case is scheduled for mention on May 14, 2026.
