Nairobi Governor elect, Mike Sonko has hit back at Raila Odinga’s directive to boycott work.

Sonko who beat ODM’s Evans Kidero, has said that only the President or the CS for Interior can issue such an order.

“Raila Odinga has no right to declare a public holiday. It Is only he President and the minister of interior who are mandated by the Constitution to declare a public holiday,” he said.

He also urged all Nairobi residents to go back to work as the government would safe guard their property.

“We are telling the people of Nairobi to open their shops and businesses tomorrow. And we are also asking the police to be vigilant and if anybody tries to steal and torch property to deal with them accordingly,” he continued.
