    Two people die in electrocution incidents in Makueni and Siaya Counties

    Two people died in separate electrocution incidents in Makueni and Siaya Counties

    The incidents were reported on Friday February 20, 2026, police said. The first incident happened at a metal works place in Makindu and involved one Paul Mutiso, 20 who was electrocuted while wielding a metal door.

    He was rushed to Makindu Sub County Hospital and pronounced dead on arrival.

    In Bondo, Siaya County, one Rosebella Ogina, 72 was found dead after suspected electrocution. The woman’s body was found on the door to her bedroom while clutching to a radio.

    The radio was connected to power and as off then. It is believed it caused the electrocution. Police said the radio’s aerial was also burnt together with the woman’s body.

    Officials suspect illegal power connections or use of quacks in the wiring contributed to the tragedy. The body was moved to the mortuary pending other procedures.

    Meanwhile, seven people were killed in separate road accidents in tie country on Friday night. Police said among those killed included three pedestrians, two riders, a driver and a pedal cyclist.

    The accidents left 21 people with serious injuries and they included three passengers, seven riders, five pillion passengers, five pedestrians and a driver.

    On February 20, nine people who included three passengers, four pedestrians, a rider and a pedal cyclist died in separate road accidents.

    Police said the accidents left eight people including three passengers and two riders were injured. The bodies were moved to the mortuary while the injured are in hospitals, police said adding the incidents are under probe.
