In the late 60’s, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta met Dhanji Parmar in the tailor’s shop along Kenyatta Avenue in Nakuru.

Out of that grew a budding business relationship that saw Mr Parmar become the official leather jacket tailor of the first President of Kenya.

Dhanji Parmar did his work with passion and served diligently. And evidently, Mzee Kenyatta was mostly seen in a leather jacket made by the famous tailor.

Mr Parmar passed away on Monday and President Uhuru Kenyatta, son of the first president of Kenya, remembered the tailor as a man of skill and talent.

He died at the age of 82-years after suffering a heart attack.
