Bonchari parliamentary hopeful John Onkendi Tuesday, challenged former Interior ministry Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i to consider engaging ODM renegades in his quest for presidency.
Separately, UPA secretary general, Jacob Bagaka accused President William Ruto of orchestrating an advance plot to rig the 2027 polls.
Onkendi asked the former powerful CS to capitalize on the current discontentment in the party to woo support especially from the disconted faction.
Already a section of ODM party rebels among them Siaya Governor James Orengo had vowed to defy the party’s decision to join the broad-based.
They have since said the move by their party leader Raila Odinga to join Ruto was stifling their constitutional right to freedom of expression.
“I am an ODM member myself who vocally dissents to what is going in the party. Iam one among the dozens who to backs Matiangi for presidency so Matiangi should not shy away from seeking help from us,” said Onkendi.
He was speaking during the burials of three victims of the five victims killed when a three building collapsed in Suneka township .
Onkendi urged the youth who had attained the requisite maturity age to register for national identity cards.
He pressed for justice for the families of the five victims.
The victims were identified as Richard Mose, Boaz Maobe and John Ayoti.

Bagaka insisted said the move by Ruto to allow unfiltered screening of ID holders especially from the porous borders of Somali was an hand hand move to allow ghost voters to enroll.
“Already he is running scared and that is why he is resorting to dirty schemes.We tell Kenyans to be vigilant,” Bagaka told mourners.
He said Matiang’i would ride on the party’s sponsorship to contest for the presidency.
He accused the state of deliberately delaying the issuance of the national IDs to eligible youths.
Bagaka called for the release of the IDs to help the youths enrol to vote.
