    Early Life

Jaime Elizabeth Pressly was born on July 30, 1977, in Kinston, North Carolina. Her mother worked as a dance instructor, while her father was employed as a car salesman.

As a child, Pressly was heavily involved in extracurricular activities, including gymnastics, dance lessons, and singing classes. She later described herself as a “prissy tomboy” growing up.

Her family eventually relocated to Costa Mesa, California, during her teenage years. Around the same time, Jaime’s modeling career began taking shape.

    Modeling Career Started at 14

At just 14 years old, Pressly appeared on the cover of Teen Magazine and became a spokesmodel for the International Cover Model Search.

When she was 15, she accepted a modeling contract in Japan during a difficult period when her parents were going through a divorce. Because neither parent could accompany her overseas, Pressly became a legally emancipated minor with their support.

Her early success in modeling helped finance her eventual transition into acting.

    Early Film and Television Roles

Pressly made her acting debut in the 1996 direct-to-video film Mercenary.

A year later, she appeared in Poison Ivy: The New Seduction, which brought her increased visibility in Hollywood. She continued landing roles in smaller television and movie projects throughout the late 1990s.

Some of her early appearances included:

    • Mortal Kombat: Conquest
    • Ringmaster
    • 100 Girls
    • Joe Dirt
    • Not Another Teen Movie
    • Torque

Although many of the films received poor reviews, Pressly steadily built her reputation as a recognizable television and movie actress.

‘My Name Is Earl’ Changed Everything

Jaime Pressly’s biggest breakthrough came in 2005 when she was cast as Joy Turner in My Name Is Earl.

Her portrayal of Earl’s loud, selfish, and hilariously unpredictable ex-wife became one of the show’s standout performances. Critics praised her comedic timing and fearless acting style.

The role transformed her career and earned her several major award nominations, including:

    • Primetime Emmy Award win
    • Golden Globe nomination
    • Screen Actors Guild Award nomination

The sitcom became one of NBC’s most successful comedies during its run and significantly boosted Pressly’s earnings and industry profile.

    Continued Television Success With ‘Mom’

After My Name Is Earl ended in 2009, Pressly shifted toward recurring television work and guest appearances.

She appeared in series such as:

    • Rules of Engagement
    • Raising Hope
    • Two and a Half Men
    • Jennifer Falls

In 2014, she joined the cast of Mom alongside Anna Faris and Allison Janney.

Pressly played Jill Kendall, a wealthy recovering alcoholic whose struggles and humor made her a fan favorite. She remained a regular cast member until the series concluded in 2021.

    Film Career

Although television became her strongest platform, Pressly also continued appearing in films.

    Her notable movie credits include:

    • Horton Hears a Who!
    • I Love You, Man
    • A Haunted House 2
    • The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure

While some of the films struggled critically, Pressly maintained a steady Hollywood presence through both live-action and voice acting roles.

    Jaime Pressly’s Financial Problems

Despite her success, Pressly experienced major financial difficulties during the mid-2010s.

According to reports, she sued a former accountant for allegedly mishandling her finances and leaving her with approximately $850,000 in unpaid taxes alongside significant investment losses.

The actress also faced mortgage issues tied to her Sherman Oaks home in California. At one point, foreclosure proceedings reportedly began after payments stopped being made on the property.

Eventually, Pressly sold the house in 2016 for $1.9 million, likely at a financial loss.

    Real Estate Investments

    Sherman Oaks Home

In 2008, Pressly purchased a home in Sherman Oaks, California, for $2.25 million.

She later attempted to sell the property several times while dealing with her financial issues. The home was ultimately sold in 2016.

    New California Property

In 2017, Pressly purchased another Sherman Oaks property for approximately $2.275 million.

However, shortly after moving in, the house was burglarized, with reports claiming around $200,000 worth of jewelry was stolen.

    Personal Life

Jaime Pressly has been open about her struggles with bulimia during her teenage years.

She was previously in a relationship with DJ Eric Calvo, with whom she shares a son born in 2007. The couple separated in 2008.

Pressly later married entertainment lawyer Simran Singh in 2009, though the marriage ended in divorce in 2011.

In 2017, she welcomed twin sons Leo and Lenon with her partner Hamzi Hijazi.
