A 37-year-old woman was found dead in a house in Rongo, Migori County, on Wednesday morning following an alleged domestic dispute with her husband.

The body of Lilian Akinyi was discovered at Kolondo area in Kamukuyu Sub-location after neighbours were alerted by her screams.

According to police, Akinyi, who operated a small business in Rongo Township, had allegedly disagreed with her husband on Tuesday night.

Police said neighbours heard her screaming that she was dying at about 6am on Wednesday, prompting them to alert the area assistant chief.

The neighbours reportedly broke into the house and found Akinyi lying on the floor in a pool of blood.

Police officers who responded to the scene found her body lying naked in a supine position inside the single-room house.

She had suffered a deep wound to the head and was bleeding profusely, according to the report.

Police identified her husband who allegedly attempted to flee after the neighbours discovered what had happened.

An alarm was raised, attracting an angry crowd that reportedly attacked the man with kicks, blows and other weapons.

He sustained serious injuries and was left unconscious before police officers rescued him from the crowd.

The man was taken to Rongo Sub-County Hospital, where he was receiving treatment in critical condition.

Police recovered a jembe believed to have been used in the incident and kept it as an exhibit.

Officers from Kamagambo Police Station processed the scene and commenced investigations.

Akinyi’s body was moved to Rosewood Mortuary pending a postmortem examination as police continued investigations into the circumstances surrounding her death.

And police in Nyamira County have launched investigations after a 35-year-old man was found dead inside his house with visible signs of strangulation.

Edwin Mosota, alias Bota, was found dead on Wednesday morning in Gisage Sub-location, CMM Borangi Location, Nyamira North Sub-County.

Mosota was discovered inside his house with blood oozing from his nose.

Police officers visited the scene and processed and documented it.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the deceased had visible physical signs consistent with strangulation.

The circumstances surrounding his death remained unclear as detectives commenced investigations to establish what happened before he was found dead.

Mosota’s body was moved to Ibaara Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending an autopsy.

Police are investigating the incident as murder.
