A 40-year-old woman was killed in a suspected domestic attack in Bondo Sub-County, Siaya County, in the early hours of Thursday, while her husband is fighting for his life after allegedly attempting suicide.

The deceased, identified as Maureen Atieno Oloo, was found dead inside her house in Lwala B Village, Ogam Nyamonye Sub-location, North Yimbo.

Police said she had sustained severe axe wounds to the forehead and the back of the head.

The incident was reported by a relative of the suspect, prompting officers to visit the scene.

Investigators identified the suspect as, 49-year-old, the deceased’s husband.

Police said he allegedly attempted to take his own life by drinking an unknown poisonous substance after the attack.

He was initially rushed to Bondo Sub-County Hospital before being referred to Siaya County Referral Hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition while unconscious.

Police processed and documented the scene before moving the woman’s body to Bondo Sub-County Hospital Mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

The motive for the killing has not yet been established, and investigations are ongoing.

And police in Kisumu West Sub-County are investigating the death of a 26-year-old man who was found dead inside his mother’s kitchen in what is being treated as a suspected murder.

The incident was reported on Thursday afternoon at Daraja Mbili Police Post.

The reportee said he woke up at about 10 a.m. and noticed that his brother, Joseph Lucky Barack, was missing from his usual sleeping place. He later went to their mother’s kitchen, where the deceased occasionally slept, and found him lying face down and unresponsive.

Police officers visited the scene and processed it before examining the body. They observed visible bruises on the deceased’s head, both hands and both feet, injuries believed to be consistent with blunt force trauma. No other visible injuries were noted.
