Nandi youths have sided with Deputy President William Ruto who has accused the former Premier Raila Odinga of bringing “confusion, propaganda and conman-ship” into the Jubilee party.

The youths want the opposition to stop taking advantage of the March 29 handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Odinga.

“We will not allow the unwarranted attacks by ODM leaders on DP Ruto because he [Ruto] is firmly in Jubilee and no one has the authority to ask him to retire,” one of the youths, Kiptum Tum said after holding demonstrations.

The DP while speaking in Kisauni over the weekend said that there are plans to force him out of the ruling party.

“But I want to tell them, you cannot eject me from ODM then follow me and have me out of Jubilee. That is impossible,” Ruto said.

On Monday, in what has become an exchange of words, ODM party responded to Ruto’s allegations calling him a pathological liar who “rides on the sweat of others.”

“It is easy to ignore and dismiss a pathological liar like William Ruto, but we have seen before that he is not just the greatest liar in our politics, but one so adept at mining sympathy that he will leave audiences marveling at his “triumph” over non existent adversity,” a letter signed by party secretary general Edwin Sifuna read in part.

Raila on his part said that the DP is only scared of the war against corruption.

Political commentators have said that the war of words between Raila and Ruto is about the looming referendum which the youth say is “selfish” coming from the ODM party leader.
