AFC Leopards manager Rodolfo Zapata has said his charges spoke for him in their 4-2 thumping of floundering Nakumatt FC in the Kenyan Premier at Machakos’ Kenyatta Stadium Sunday.

A brace from on form forward Ezekial Omulo Odera and a goal apiece from prodigies Jeffari Odenyi Owiti and Marvin Omondi Nabwire sealed the humongous win for Zapata.

Waithira Joseph scored from the spot with former Leopards’ attacking midfielder Timonah Wanyonyi scoring the second for the Shoppers to reduce the deficit.

Zapata who has come under immense pressure from a section of the Leopards’ fan base and some members of the executive committee to quit over poor results said “my boys spoke for myself.”

“AFC Leopards is a big team and we played well,” he added while lauding the players for showing commitment from “the onset and played offensive football.”

“I’m very proud today,” the Argentine coach said.

The 1998 KPL champions moved third in the 18-team table standings on 45 points after 26 matches, 14 points off their arch rivals and leaders Gor Mahia, who have played three matches less.

They next meet relegation bound Thika United in their next outing on Saturday.
