The US first lady Melania Trump will be making her first tour to Africa in October for the first time since taking office in January 2017 with husband Donald Trump, her office announced on Monday.
“This will be my first time traveling to Africa and I am excited to educate myself on the issues facing children throughout the continent, while also learning about its rich culture and history,” Melania said in a statement.
“We are a global society and I believe it is through open dialogue and the exchanging of ideas that we have a real opportunity to learn from one another.”
It is not yet clear which country she will be traveling to as she is expected to visit several countries. Her communications director Stephanie Grisham announced that the information will be communicated in the coming weeks.

This will be the first African trip after President Trump referred to immigrants from Haiti, El Salvador and African nations as people from ‘shit-hole countries’.
Melania has travelled to Toronto Canada as her first solo trip but this will make the farthest trip she has made alone.
As the first lady, she is currently working to promote children’s health and education in the US. She commended Lebron James work to promote education among the less fortunate despite the public spat from the husband.
